Frequently Asked Questions

Short answers to the questions readers send WebTech1223411 most often, plus where to write if yours is not covered here.

Who is this site written for?

Developers and technically curious readers who already know what HTML is and want the reasoning behind the tools, not another copy of the documentation. Some articles suit beginners, and we say so near the top when that is the case.

Why do you write so much about online games?

Online games are one of the hardest workloads the web has. They need fast rendering, low latency, real-time servers and interfaces that work on cheap phones. Looking at how games solve those problems teaches a lot about web technology in general.

Do you test the code and techniques you describe?

Where we can, yes, in current versions of Chrome, Firefox and Safari. When something depends on a browser version or a specific framework release, we name it, because web advice ages quickly.

Do you accept sponsored articles?

Some links on the site are commercial and are disclosed in our editorial policy. Sponsorship never decides what we recommend technically, and we do not publish product reviews written by vendors.

Can I suggest a topic or report a mistake?

Please do. Send it to the address on our contact page with a link to the article. Corrections are made in place and noted at the bottom of the page.

Do I need a particular framework to follow along?

No. Most articles use plain HTML, CSS and JavaScript, or describe concepts that apply whatever framework you use. When an example needs a specific library, we say which one.

My question is not here

Write to [email protected] and ask. Questions that arrive more than once usually end up as an article, and the ones that arrive often end up on this page.

Start with the blog archive, or pick a topic from the about page if you would rather see how the site is organised first.
